Quilt with Judy
THE CLEARING is a school of discovery in the arts, humanities and natural sciences in Ellison Bay, Wi (Door County). It is a "hands on" folk school experience where students reside for a full week of camaraderie, beauty in nature, quilting and great food. The week offers a project or theme that most participants choose to work on but Judy is open to students working on quilts of their own choosing as well. Students sew in the Schoolhouse, a short walk from the Main Lodge and campus.

Quilting: Stitched Stories
April 28-May 4 OR Sept 22-28
This years class will focus on making a quilt that captures a moment, occasion or something special in your life. It will be more than just pieces of fabric, it will tell a story, through pieced blocks, appliqué, photo transfers or embroidery. A quilt that is sure to become a family heirloom.
For those who may be adverse to trying to create a design of their own, the week can be spent as an open studio, where you can work on whatever you wish.
Jun 30-Jul 6
A new offering to The Clearing! I will be leading a week long class in hand stitched wool appliqué. It will lend itself to beginners, who want to learn the basics... and yet, have enough interest for those who are already experienced. Even if you?ve never sewn, this can be accomplished by you!
Since this is a hand stitching class, it will be very relaxed. Instruction will be mostly in the morning, allowing you time to explore the sights if you wish or spend the afternoon stitching inside or out. I will be featuring my original designs (although you can bring other patterns as well).
